Sedation Dentistry in Heber Springs, AR

If you find dental treatments cause you to be extremely stressed, uptight, nervous and fearful, sedation dentistry might be appropriate for you.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is the use of sedative drugs to help you be relaxed and calm during your dental treatment.

How am I sedated?

With advances in sedation methods, most sedation is now accomplished using sedative pills. This type of sedation is not a general anesthesia.

How does it work?

You will be given an oral medication approximately one hour prior to your appointment. The sedative will make you feel sleepy, but you will remain awake throughout your treatment. You will feel calm and relaxed. It will be as though you are in a dream. You will likely not remember much about your treatment.

Is it safe?

Sedation dentistry is completely safe.

Can I drive home afterwards?

For your safety, we require that you have a family member or friend drive you home and stay with you for a few hours after your sedation dentistry appointment.
